Call for Submissions: Comics about Education!

Comic Arts in the Classroom is seeking submissions for an anthology of comics on the theme of education.  The book is planned for release to coincide with the New England Comic Arts in the Classroom Conference, to be held in Providence on March 26, 2011.

For the anthology, we are looking for short, black and white stories (1-8 pages) about learning and teaching (or the failure to do so), primarily in academic settings.  Stories of all tones are welcome, although our aim is for a book suitable to be read by young adults as well as adults.

The book’s format will be 8.5″ x 5.5″, perfect bound.  Artwork should fit in a “safe” image area of 8″ x 5″.  Unfortunately, our budget isn’t sufficient to compensate contributors, apart from contributor copies of the book.

Deadline for submissions is February 1, 2011.  The editorial board includes Michael Gianfrancesco, Dr. Jennifer Cook, Heather Bryant, Dan Mazur and Alexander Danner.

Please contact us with questions or proposals.  A heads-up on expected submissions will be appreciated!

Thanks.
